　　[ scamp work and stint materials cheat in government contracts with jerry-build ] 原指不按工程或产品所规定的质量要求，私自削减工序和用料。现在常用来比喻做事马虎、敷衍塞责。

　　[ fall in with other's wishes and acquire admittance ] 苟且迎合以取悦于人。亦作“偷合取容”。

☉ 偷鸡不着蚀把米 【tōujībùzháoshíbǎmǐ】
　　[ go for wool and come home shorn try to steal a chicken only to end up losing the rice ] 以米诱鸡而偷之未成，反而赔了米。比喻图事不成，自己受到损害。

☉ 偷梁换柱 【tōuliánɡhuànzhù】
　　[ steal the beams and pillars and replace them rotten timber-perpetrate a fraud ] 意为玩弄手法、暗中改换内容，以达到蒙混欺骗的目的。军事上是说与别的军队联合作战时，暗中抽换其主力，使作战失利，以乘机吞并之。
