　　[ come out top be ahead of all others be among the best of the candidates be on the top of the list come out in front leave all others behind stand at the head of ] 前茅本为古代军队前哨斥候为通报后军而举的茅草。后用以比喻评比、考试等名位排列在前几名。
　　例： 去年弟在京师，听说二公子中了秀才，且名列前茅，颇为学台赏识，实在可贺可贺。——姚雪垠《李自成》
　　[ pace ] ∶特指成为得高分的运动员。
　　例： 在第六局比赛中，他由于击中三次而在队中名列前茅

☉ 前茅 【qiánmáo】
　　[ patrol ] 即先头部队。古代行军时，前哨斥侯以茅为旌，如遇敌人或敌情有变化，举旌以通知后军。
